About Harmony
Acres Farm
 |
When breeding sport horse Draft X's we prefer the sire to be the
draft and the dam to be the lighthorse/hotblood. This gives
the movement, size, temprement, and willingness needed to create a
lovely prospect. We have found that breeding the heavier
Draft mare will give you a much heavier type of horse. We
feel that the mare dictates much more onto the foal than the
stallion usually will. |

Over the years we have found that our 1/2 Draft and 1/2
Thoroughbred or lightmares have been wonderfully versatile and
gifted at almost all disciplines, including driving,
jumping, dressage, cross country, and fox hunting. All of
this while still possessing a lovely temperament, good bone, fluid
movement, and soundness. They are affectionate and generous,
yet still carry enough performance value to satisfy most riders.

For the bolder,
more competitive upper-level horses we prefer to use 1/4 Draft and
3/4 Thoroughbred or Appendix. This will give you a bit more
refinement, endurance, and the hotness required to perform at that
level. |

Harmony Acres is now
offering Haflinger and Haflinger X's for sale. We first fell
in love with the Haflinger 5 years ago when our son Luke was 3 years
old. We needed a small Shire X for him because we believe in
starting children on ponies since there is less of a distance to
fall. Good ponies are hard to find, and Haflingers are all we
breed for, but in a smaller package. Luke's pony "Scout"
excels in all events, including barrel racing, pole bending, show
jumping,
pony hunters, and driving. Scout recently starting
roping and, as usual, has picked it up effortlessly. |
